Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a method of treatment that supports the body's
own healing mechanism. Based on the law of similars,
or "like cures like", homeopathy is a natural
system of health care which stimulates the body's natural
defenses and healing powers. According to this law, a remedy
can cure a disease if it produces symptoms in healthy persons
similar to those caused by the disease.
Pharmaceutically prepared in very small doses, homeopathic
medicines work with the body's natural defenses to heal
itself and maintain balance and health. Homeopathics have
no known side effects.
Combination remedies are mixtures of two or more single
ingredients which address symptoms in a broad range, thereby
making remedy selection easier. Often used for acute minor
illnesses (colds, aches and pains, allergies, etc.), combinations
enable the use of homeopath by those with an emerging knowledge.
They also benefit the experienced prescriber. In a busy
practice, many patients with acute similar conditions can
be treated with combinations, allowing the practitioner
extra time for the more challenging patients. When considering
cost effectiveness and ease of stocking (there are upwards
of 1,000 single official remedies alone) it is easy to see
the benefit to combinations.
Homeopathic remedies are regulated and manufactured under
strict quality controls by the United States Food and Drug
Administration-FDA.
